Stammering is hell Hrithik Photoshoot

In an emotional and poignant episode, Hrithik speaks on how he was teased as a kid, struggled to speak normally without stammering and fulfilled his dreams of becoming an actor. Hrithik reveals that he was around six years old when he began stammering. He says, “Everything seems normal till you start talking. The minute you start talking, you get stuck and you don’t know why? Right from your toes to the ends of your hair strands, you are in complete shock. Your heart palpitates, you don’t understand and you are aware of people looking at you. You can compare it to hell.”
When asked till when the problem continued, Hrithik says, “Six to 35. I am 35.” On being asked if he was made fun in school, Hrithik says, “Of course. Unfortunately, it’s one of those handicaps that is made fun of. Especially kids, you can’t blame them but they end up being mean because it looks funny! So the childhood of a person suffering from a problem like this is pure hell. From the time you wake up in the morning to night you almost dread some days…to wake up! Because you have to go through an entire day when you have to use your speech and you have to go through all those little moments of hell.”
And he adds, “For oral tests at school, I used to bunk school, I used to fall sick, I used to break my hand, I used to get a sprain.” He also speaks of getting tremendous family support but admits to it making it tougher on him; “Mummy and daddy have been supportive. Yes, but sometimes love is not enough! When you love someone you want that person to be okay and it comes out as anger. It’s like “Come on, you can do it, just concentrate hard!”
Farah asks, “So was it harder when they told you that?”
Hrithik admits, “Of course, it was.”

Kareena is currently prepping to shoot a romantic song with Aamir Khan for Raj Kumar Hirani’s Three Idiots at a Mumbai studio. However, after hearing from Sharmila Tagore, the actress’ manager has now sent a request to co-star Aamir asking if she can be let off for a day to fly to Pataudi. Karan is in London for the promotion of his film Wake Up Sid, but sources say, that his company is also keen to have Kareena meet Julia.
And, Chotte Nawab Saif has also got into the act, he and lady love are expected to host a dinner for Julia at the family’s royal seat in Pataudi.
The Hollywood actress is accompanied on the trip by her four-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and two-year-old son Henry. Due to strict security instructions, neither Saif nor Kareena are able to make an official comment on the arrangements. But a source close to the actress said, “Bebo is as keen as Julia to make this dinner happen. Ever since she signed Step-Mom she’s been keen to interact closely with Julia.”
Whether the Chhoti Begum of Pataudi gets her wish is something we’ll know in the next two days.
Jab We Met Julia
When we met Julia (yes, we got to see her one-on-one, and though we tried a conversation too, her bouncers came in the way and when they did, we could see nothing else – just mounds of muscle!), she was dressed in black cropped pants and a black sleeveless tee.
She looked cool and unperturbed by the people around her. Everything about her arrival at the Leela Kempinski Hotel, Gurgaon was unstarry. In fact, she chose the residential entry to the hotel over entering from the hotel’s main lobby. There was no flutter before her arrival, no security guys or hotel staff ran hither thither and neither did we spot a fleet of cars to mark her presence. She came in an unaccompanied vehicle with three members from her personal security from Pataudi Village. So, while shoppers walked up and down the driveway (some coming out with bagfuls of grocery), Julia stepped out of her black hired car and walked into the hotel – calm and composed. She’ll spend some time with her children at the hotel, as she takes a break from shooting at the Pataudi Village. Her children were already at the hotel when she arrived.

Model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone says she always wanted to carve a niche for herself in the glamour industry but without participating in a beauty pageant, unlike many of her colleagues.
“I had set up an objective to become a model without winning any beauty pageants,” Deepika told choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan on her chat show.
But the actress didn’t give any specific reason for her aversion to taking part in beauty contests. A lot of Indian actresses and ex-Miss Indias, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Celina Jaitly, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza joined Bollywood after earning fame through national and international beauty pageants.

Amitabh is single in his mind

Amitabh grew up in a middle-class ethos that made romance and marriage congruent and sneered at bigamy, adultery and extra-marital affairs. Amitabh’s mother Teji, who was his guiding force, was well-connected and extremely active in the social circuit. When Amitabh chose Jaya, she too had similar qualities. I read somewhere that in a party Amitabh flirted with Mousumi Chatterjee not knowing that she was already married and tried to cultivate Sharmila Tagore, unable to recognise her as the great star. Interestingly, all the women were Bengali and petite. So he was looking for a ‘Jaya type’.
After Zanjeer and Deewar, Amitabh rediscovered himself anew. By then he became a big star and changed his social milieu. He shifted from the Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Desh Mukherjee world into Yash Chopra, Prakash Mehra and Manmohan Desai camp. The last three were totally mainstream cinema. I think that here Amitabh suffered a kind of a split within himself. As an angry young man he overcame certain barriers of his ‘repression’. I think that in this moment in which he discovered a new kind of a liberated self after the success of Deewar and Zanjeer, he ‘fell’ for Rekha, a new woman for a new self.
I think Rekha’s adulation boosted Amitabh’s ego. For Jaya, such undying devdasi kind of adulation was not possible. But Amitabh would have never married Rekha — she was the daughter of a bigamist and therefore not ‘culturally right’, she also was not the ‘middle-class’ that he was in. But his heart was with Rekha and in an interview Jaya said that it was not possible to control anyone’s mind, probably referring to her husband’s mental involvement with the other woman.
Amitabh has an adventurous mind. He is interested in the fact that women get attracted to him. His frequent visits to Parveen Babi and their listening to music together appear to me to be more of inquisitiveness on Amitabh’s part, something that Indian men have of progressive and liberated women. Amitabh does not seem to have been really emotionally entangled with Parveen. Like Rekha, Parveen’s hopes too were raised by Amitabh’s attention because when Parveen returned stark mad back to Mumbai she accused Amitabh of stalking and trying to kill her.
It appears to me that Amitabh has two minds, one free, solitary and even asexual, a sign of geniuses and the other a typical middle-class socialised into believing in the nuclear family based on monogamy and romantic love that necessarily culminates into marriage. Both these ‘selves’ have existed in his marriage. This is why even without Rekha, Amitabh would have appeared to Jaya to be sometimes there and sometimes to be not there and never quite wholly belonging to her. Amitabh has the mind of a single man, he looks after his family because it is his dharma.
As I could observe, and at that point of time I was nearly 20 years younger, Amitabh and Jaya were ideologically apart. For Jaya, there was a distress about why Amitabh did the films that he did. The change in the power position within the marriage as Amitabh became successful also changed the soft, intense and emotional romance which Jaya and Amitabh had.
As a father and now as a father-in-law, Amitabh has been doting. Shweta was pampered and her father made sure that she had everything. In Jaya’s words, in a television interview, Amitabh now tries to compensate Shweta’s absence in the home through Aishwarya. I feel his idea of the perfect woman is fulfilled by Aishwarya; the perfect woman as an image and not for consumption, something like a daughter would have done.

Mackenzie Drops a Bomb & Khloé’s a Bride-to-Be

Kanye who? The memory of the 2009 MTV VMAs faded fast, but happenings on the small screen continued to dominate the news this past week, from Sunday’s Emmy Awards to Mackenzie Phillips‘ Oprah revelation to Obama on Letterman to the delightfulness that was the three-night premiere of Dancing With the Stars (and just when you figured that show had to be tapped out).
Here’s a rundown from the past seven days:
1. Mad Men and 30 Rock, which actually enjoyed a bit of cross-pollination last season, triumphed once again at the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Looking at stars Jon Hamm and Tina Fey, you can’t help but think…Jeez, Jon Hamm is hot. Anyway, E! News’ cameras and commentators didn’t let any drama, dresses or dreamy celebs go by without notice, so check out our complete Emmys coverage right here in the Red Carpet section.
2. E!’s very own Khloé Kardashian and L.A. Lakers star Lamar Odom are making it official on Sunday. Say what you will about the speed with which they’re heading to the altar, but it’s happening, and it’s gonna be great, dammit! Besides, even we feel warm and fuzzy looking at her ring. Yowza!
3. Mackenzie Phillips, who stopped making flattering headlines in the ’70s after her struggles with substance abuse derailed her acting career, revealed in her new memoir—and on Oprah—that her father, ’60s rock icon “Papa” John Phillips, raped her when she was 19 and they went on to have a consensual (Stockholm syndrome-style) sexual relationship for nearly 10 years. Two of his ex-wives, including Michelle Phillips, don’t buy it, but Mackenzie’s half-sister Chynna does. We, for one, are just really sad about the whole thing.
4. Dancing With the Stars is back—and so far Kelly Osbourne and Donny Osmond are the best thing about it! For real! She is too cute and he’s just really appealing in that certain-I-don’t-know-what kind of way. Joanna Krupa also showed a surprising amount of potential (considering the past performance of hot models on the show) and it looks to be an entertaining season. And, yes, it’s already injury-riddled.
5. The trial of two people accused of trying to extort $25 million from John Travolta and Kelly Preston in the wake of their 16-year-old son’s death kicked off in the Bahamas. Travolta took the stand and talked emotionally about the day Jett died, recalling the moment when they discovered him unconscious. Very tragic.
6. Where did Anna Nicole Smith meet these people? Court records show that a California pharmacist refused to fill an order faxed in by Smith’s psychiatrist, who’s now charged with 11 felonies for allegedly plying the late model with drugs, calling it “pharmaceutical suicide.” The shrink and another physician have also been accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with their patient. Dr. Sandeep Kapoor says he’s gay and the allegation is therefore ridiculous. And Howard K. Stern is now facing more charges than before.
7. Here’s the first look at This Is It, featuring footage from Michael Jackson’s rehearsals for the comeback that was never to be. What do you think about all this hoopla? Too much? It’s not as if he’s as overexposed as Megan Fox or anything.
8. The Awful Truth continues to be your one-stop shop for all things interesting, sizzling and snarky in the Twilight Saga world. Some of the latest: Breaking Dawn’s screenwriter is set; security on the Eclipse set is too tight for Ted…Kellan Lutz bagged some swag; Alec Baldwin doesn’t seem to want Rob Pattinson on 30 Rock, but SNL will take him.
9. Randy and Evi Quaid may have always been weird (don’t know, Dennis gets most of the press), but now they’re suspected felons after allegedly blowing off a $10,000 luxury-hotel bill. Not the behavior we would have expected from Clark Griswold’s Cousin Eddie.
